Just got this in an email from a friend:

Rock Scully auction items at Bonhams. It runs the gamut from mundane to absurd, with a few notable items in there.

A collection of almost 200 items - some of the usual stuff, and lots of bits and pieces of Vince - yes, you too can own his health insurance card issued to him by GDP in 1999. Wonder if they had to pay a premium for piano players.

A bunch of Pigpen items, somewhat more interesting.

A lot of stuff not technically Dead related other than they were probably pulled from a dead guys house and were once owned by Jerry, Pig or Vince.

Also, a collection of "Jerry Garcia unsmoked cigarette packs"

that was diappointing....

mostly a few lots of PHOTO SHOOT out-takes, and "VINCE-OWNED" posters none of which was blowing me away -- and one of the lots i looked at seemed WAY OVER ESTIMATED -- but that's why you hold an auction, to get some crazy nutter to throw some money around -- and then all the sudden BANG! some Italian guy has spent $631 for 3 posters worth $63.10 = congratulations ROCK SCULLY!

a few pieces of interest no doubt, but not a "real personal" collection...

the only thing I saw that I'd be truly interested in was the acid test handbills/posters. other than that, I agree - pretty boring.

I gotta admit- after reading Dark Star, I got a real bad impression of this guy. Of course I don't know him personally so i am not qualified enough to really talk about him, but Scully seemed to be a real bad influence over the years. How he stayed in the fold for so long baffles me. But good luck to him and the pertrified turds he is selling.

Methinks someone still has a heroin addiction ha ha.

Trying auction off unused smokes. What a joke.
What's next a petrified Jerry turd from 85.

If he does, he hides it well. Just saw him a few weeks ago and he was very friendly and articulate (as usual). Whatever you think of the guy, he's had some rough personal tragedies the past few years (like losing his son to the tsunami).
